Fitness blogs, fitness gurus, trainers are like sand at the beach. There is a near endless supply of them - and it's easy to lose focus or even get an overview. If you start googling it is endless. I haven't gone through a ton - or even googled them. I know a few of them, but am a happy #TIUgirl.
What is Tone It Up? Tone It Up - or TIU - was founded by Katrina Scott and Karena Dawn in 2009. They're real-life besties, who met at the gym in California. Neither is a California native, but they lived together in Manhattan Beach, before moving in with their significant others. They've built a thriving business, but most uniquely, perhaps, is a community of the most supportive, positive and enthusiastic girls I've ever met. You only have to search #TIUteam on Instagram to see just how many TIUlifestyle followers there are! The whole host of handles with "TIU" is staggering! And yes, tack "TIU" on to most words to make it a part of the team vernacular - whether it's the popular #TIUgirlproblems, #TIUpup or #TIUboyfriend. K&K - yes, we use acronyms a LOT - are like good friends (I've never met them); they're infinitely relatable, if with MUCH bigger budgets than I have and accessible. They have meet-ups, retreats and lots of LIVE stuff on Instagram.
Toneitup.com centers around a plethora of free workouts, daily moves, tips and recipes. The brilliance of K&K was creating a schedule. Motivation Monday, Tone It Up Tuesday with a new free workout video every week!, #WineNotWednesday with a Q&A with K&K over Rosé. I'm a total #TIUfangirl, in case that wasn't clear.

If you buck up and buy the Nutrition Plan you become a lifelong member and receive not only the Plan - which outlines how to make healthy choices, what & when to eat & why, with free updates for life, but every Meal Plans. These plans are released about three times a year, in the form of challenges. January's new year Challenge, the 8-week Bikini Series (start date 8 weeks before the first day of summer & WE ARE SO EXCITED) and a fall challenge (in 2016 it was a 31 day challenge in October). The key to joining is timing - also known as bundling up! Twice a year (before the #BikiniSeries and, in 2016, before the 2017 January challenge), K&K release a bundle - it includes some sort of bag along with some other goodies, as well as workout videos (these are only released digitally). See this year's Bikini Series bundle here. If you are not a member, the bundle includes membership (and is around $200). Member's get first dibs (on bundles and other things!) and the bundle is around $100. You do not need the bundle to participate in the challenges, though!
The Bikini Series might be the heart of TIU. Participation is FREE - yes, FREE! The free participation includes a weekly workout schedule, daily moves, weekly free videos, LIVE workouts every week with K&K (this is ***new***), as well as oodles of fun and weekly prizes. If you're a member, you get an 8-week meal plan complete with recipes and grocery lists.
Honestly, as excited as I am about the Bikini Series (starting April 24th!) I don't consider the nutrition plan a diet or gospel. It is a lifestyle and I've modified it to work for me, my lifestyle and my budget. It is SO fun, though, to feel the enthusiasm that pours out of the community, the buzzing of excitement and swapping of stories, recipes and tips! Signing up last April was one of the best decisions I ever made. I gained invaluable support and knowledge from K&K and the #TIUteam. I check in daily on Instagram, which is NOT necessary but I love participating and seeing what all the girls are up to!
